During the drop, BTC and ETH fell harder than altcoins because institutions or whales were dumping spot holdings like crazy.
And they don’t hold mainstream altcoins, so during events like 3AC’s collapse, FTX’s crash, or the recent market downturns, many mainstream altcoins quickly started moving sideways instead of continuing to drop. Meanwhile, BTC and ETH just kept falling further.
What you can clearly see is the liquidation of Bitcoin and Ethereum—these are the assets that institutions actually hold. On the other hand, mainstream altcoins tend to rebound earlier than BTC after a bloodbath. This is because the market manipulators have already scooped up cheap tokens and are in control, making it easier to pump the price.
If you’re still trying to short here for a small 2% drop and it suddenly crashes straight to 54,000, 50,000, or 49,000, I think that’s a very low-probability scenario. Before breaking down, it’s much more reasonable to pump to 70,000 or 74,000, liquidate all the shorts, and then drop.
It’s your money—just respect every trade and decision you make.
