Mar-a-Lago, the venue for WLFI's first event, the second center of power in the U.S.
WLFI held its inaugural World Liberty Forum at Mar-a-Lago, and this location is definitely worth talking about.
Everyone’s asking why Mar-a-Lago was chosen?
Let me first tell you the story behind this house.
In 1927, Marjorie Post, the richest woman in America at the time, spent $7 million building it (equivalent to over $90 million today). Her lifelong dream was to donate it to the government as the 'Winter White House.'
But the government thought the maintenance costs were too high and returned it. It sat on the market for years with no buyers.
In 1985, Trump bought it for $7 million, and the furniture inside was valued at $8 million. The estate spans 80,000 square meters with 126 rooms. In 1995, he converted it into an exclusive members-only club with a $200,000 membership fee.
The original owner’s 'White House dream' was realized by Trump in a way she could never have imagined.
Trump hosted the 2024 election night here; last May, there was a dinner for the first 220 holders of TRUMP coin; and many meetings and events that influenced key decisions have been held here.
Mar-a-Lago has transformed from a celebration venue into a power center meeting room.
The road leading to the estate was recently renamed 'Trump Boulevard.'
Aside from CZ returning to the U.S. to attend, I dug into the guest list, and this lineup is something you won’t see at any other crypto conference:
Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon
Nasdaq CEO Adena Friedman
NYSE President Lynn Martin
CFTC Chairman
Franklin Templeton CEO
Not only do attendees need to provide their industry background, but they also have to submit their X (formerly Twitter) account, and the organizers review each one individually.
The White House handles policy; this place handles business.
