[AMLBot: 65% of Cryptocurrency Theft Cases in 2025 Driven by Social Engineering]
Odaily Planet Daily News – According to AMLBot monitoring, approximately two-thirds of cryptocurrency security incidents in 2025 will be driven by social engineering rather than technical vulnerabilities. A report released by AMLBot shows that 65% of the cases it reviewed last year involved access and response failures, including device compromise, weak authentication, and delayed detection, rather than vulnerabilities in blockchain or smart contracts themselves. Among various types of fraud cases, investment scams accounted for the highest proportion at 25%, followed by phishing at 18%, and device compromise at 13%. Over the past three months, identity impersonation-related attacks have resulted in at least $9 million in digital asset losses. AMLBot CEO Slava Demchuk stated that identity impersonation is the most destructive method in social engineering scams, with attackers often posing as exchange support teams, investment partners, or project managers. Users should be cautious of urgent requests involving fund transfers or wallet access.
