[Sources: ECB President Lagarde hopes to step down before the French presidential election next April] According to a report by Financial Times cited by Jinse Finance, a person familiar with the matter revealed that European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde is expected to step down before her eight-year term ends in October 2027. Lagarde, who transitioned from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to become ECB President in November 2019, hopes to resign before the French presidential election next April. Sources indicate that Lagarde wishes to allow the outgoing French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to select a new leader for one of the EU's most important institutions. It is currently unclear when Lagarde will officially step down. (Jin10)
