[UK Reform Party Promises Comprehensive Reform of the Bank of England and Office for Budget Responsibility After Taking Office]
Jin10 News, February 18 – The newly appointed fiscal spokesperson for the UK Reform Party, Robert Jenrick, will announce on Wednesday that if the party wins the next general election, it plans to carry out comprehensive reforms of the Bank of England and the government’s budget oversight body.
In a preview of Jenrick’s speech to be delivered in London’s financial district on Wednesday, the Reform Party stated that it would 'strip the Bank of England of its auxiliary responsibilities in areas such as net-zero emissions,' allowing the central bank to focus on reducing inflation.
The party also indicated that the Office for Budget Responsibility would be required to incorporate a wider range of opinions when forecasting the UK economy.
As part of a package aimed at reassuring investors and the business community, Jenrick will also confirm that under a Reform Party government, while adjustments will be made to the Bank of England and the Office for Budget Responsibility, their independence will be maintained.
Reform Party leader Nigel Farage had previously questioned the independence of these two institutions.
