According to Deep Tide TechFlow, on February 16, Metaplanet Inc. announced in its fiscal year 2025 financial report that the company has become Japan's largest Bitcoin holder. As of the end of 2025, it held 35,102 Bitcoins, accounting for approximately 0.16% of the global Bitcoin supply, ranking fourth among public companies worldwide in Bitcoin holdings.
The financial report shows that the company's revenue for fiscal year 2025 reached ¥8.905 billion, a year-on-year increase of 738.3%, while operating profit reached ¥6.287 billion, a year-on-year increase of 1694.5%. The company has raised over ¥500 billion for Bitcoin purchases through diversified financing strategies, including the issuance of preferred shares. Among them, Class B preferred shares (MERCURY) were issued via third-party placement, raising ¥21.249 billion and offering an annual yield of 4.9%.
Metaplanet plans to achieve the goal of holding 1% of the global Bitcoin supply by 2027 and will continue to drive core profit growth through its "Bitcoin yield business."
