Big data from a major exchange has leaked, and we finally figured out who’s actually losing money out there!
1. The win rate for consistently profitable traders is around 21.5%, while consistently losing traders have a win rate of over 70%.
2. The fee ratio for consistently profitable traders is 21.7 times lower than that of consistently losing traders.
3. Top traders hold their winning positions 6.2 times longer than their losing ones.
4. Over the past three years, less than 5% of traders ended up with positive results.
5. Consistently losing traders trade 7.9 times more per month than consistently profitable traders do in an entire year.
6. About 80% of profits come from just 20% of trades.
7. Male traders make up 87%, while female traders account for only 13%.
8. Age distribution of traders:
- 55+ years old: 5%
- 40-55 years old: 21%
- Under 40 years old: 74%
9. Average 3-year returns by trading frequency:
- More than 5 trades per day: -68%
- More than 1 trade per day: -31.5%
- About 1 trade every 3 days: +12%
- About 1 trade every 10 days: +59%
10. 93% of losing trades eventually recover, which explains the high win rate for consistently losing traders. But here’s the real question: what about the 7% that never recover?
