Tomasz, the executive director of the Ethereum Foundation who resigned after only one year in office, caused a lot of speculation in the community yesterday. Greg, a core contributor to the Ethereum consensus layer, revealed the answer to the mystery. His conclusion is that Tomasz was ostracized and left in a dark state due to internal power and political struggles.
Greg said he talked to Tomasz when he took office and asserted that he would definitely be fired in the first year, and the outcome was as expected. Greg pointed the finger directly at Aya, the Japanese woman who everyone hates, who is full of Zen meditation and spends her days surrounded by walls and gardens. He said that nothing has actually changed within the Ethereum Foundation, and Aya still has a very strong influence. Tomasz's joining wanted to trigger internal changes, but it caused dissatisfaction from many people, ultimately leading to being excluded. Greg also mentioned that there are still a lot of bugs within the Ethereum Foundation, rampant bureaucracy, people who receive salaries but do not do anything, and dead projects that occupy millions of dollars in budget.
Tomasz's self deprecating response below is that he resigned after one year as he claimed, and out of respect, he said he left voluntarily. However, he made a thought-provoking remark that "the management team of the Ethereum Foundation needs to prove to everyone that they are willing to act faster." This sentence is very interesting. Upon closer examination, it echoes Greg's statement that Tomasz failed to push for change internally, and the foundation has not changed much.
