[Caixin: 8,300 Chinese Victims File Claims, Asset Disposal in 60,000 Bitcoin Money Laundering Case Stalls] According to a report by Caixin, 8,300 Chinese victims have filed claims in the asset disposal case involving Qian Zhimin's 60,000 Bitcoin money laundering scheme, which has reached an impasse. Multiple law firms are representing the victims, each working independently. The British judge has noted issues such as duplicate submissions, repeated arguments, and prolonged procedures, leading to skyrocketing legal fees that will ultimately need to be borne by the Chinese victims. It is reported that on Chinese New Year's Eve and the first day of the Lunar New Year in the Year of the Horse (February 16 and 17, 2026), the High Court of Justice in the UK will hold a hearing concerning the asset disposal process for the 60,000 Bitcoin money laundering case, which involves over 130,000 Chinese victims and a disputed amount exceeding 30 billion RMB. Additionally, due to significant fluctuations in Bitcoin prices, the market value of the 60,000 Bitcoins has dropped from approximately 54 billion RMB on October 6, 2025, to about 31 billion RMB in early February 2026.
