South Korea's second-largest crypto exchange, Bithumb, admitted to serious flaws in its internal system. A transfer originally planned for about 620,000 KRW (approximately $428) was mistakenly processed as 620,000 BTC, worth around $40 billion. Bithumb CEO Lee Jae-won stated that the issue stemmed from failures in the asset matching and account segregation mechanisms, as well as a 24-hour delay in transaction processing. Most of the BTC has been recovered, but 1,786 BTC were sold before the accounts were frozen and have not yet been retrieved. Customers involved are legally required to return the funds.
