Technology centralizes power from those who use AI effectively to those who don’t, equalizes power within the group that uses AI effectively, but centralizes it within the platforms providing AI. Right now, we say humans have souls, and AI doesn’t. But recently, I’ve been wondering—when AI’s autonomous consciousness becomes stronger in the future, could that be the moment it develops spirit and soul? Is this humanity’s first challenge? Actually, there’s another challenge between humans and platforms. In the foreseeable future, leading AI platforms will become increasingly concentrated. This level of centralization could far surpass the control any platform company had over humanity during the information age, and even surpass any organization. By then, will organizational forms and governance structures also undergo changes?
