We are implementing reforms in the Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisations (saccos). These are designed to strengthen the organisations, which are the backbone of financial access for many Kenyans in the formal and informal sectors. Our goal is to build strong, resilient saccos that empower communities and ease access to affordable credit. The reforms are focused on modernising operations, strengthening governance, and protecting the savings of hardworking citizens in the cooperative movement. At State House Nairobi, received a report on the transformation of saccos from a team of experts appointed to review the organisations' governance and operations. The report recommends, among others, upgrading of digital infrastructure, integration of fintech solutions, and adoption of shared services in the modernisation of sacco operations.(William Samoei Ruto, PhD)
