FED’S LOGAN: RATES NEAR NEUTRAL, CUTS MAY NOT BE NEEDED
Fed’s Lorie Logan said policy is close to neutral and further rate cuts won’t be needed if inflation falls and the labor market stays stable. She’s more concerned about inflation staying high, but is cautiously optimistic it will move toward 2% this year.
Logan said cuts could be appropriate if the labor market weakens, but noted economic activity has rebounded and downside labor risks have faded. She added inflation has been above target for nearly five years and progress so far is only tentative.(*Walter Bloomberg)
