Give a New Year's gift to your friends.
Actually, when I was developing Pake, I was thinking about developing a Mac terminal tool that I thought was easy to use and extremely fast. So, I started to tinker with it locally to meet my needs and various customizations. Later on, when I was developing Mole, this feeling became more and more obvious. Why wasn't there a terminal tool that I felt was very user-friendly?
I used to really like Alacrity because it was the lightest and simplest, but it didn't support multiple tabs. Later, I encountered the popular Ghostty and tried to update it, but the font rendering didn't meet my expectations. There are also many people who like Warp, and I don't understand why a terminal still needs to log in. Kitty is actually easy to use, but there are always bugs in window management that seem difficult to fix.
Until I encountered Wezterm, but unfortunately the last official version was two years ago. However, since it is based on Rust, I happen to be able to deeply customize and modify it, so I started my journey of tinkering. If there were any problems, I would do it myself, deleting a large number of compatible modules, modifying its loading, and built-in some convenient and good features. I expect it to be as fast as the world's fastest Alacritty, but support multiple tabs and split screens, so that when I am writing AICoding, I can use Claude Code while using Codex Review, and then use Git diff to look at the code at the bottom. This will allow me to be more focused.
So, the day before yesterday, when I had dinner with my little friend, he also roast that there is no useful terminal. I said you can try mine, wait for me to pack a bag, and then Kaku came out. In fact, it is a Japanese name. Kaku Kaku Kaku Kaku You can read it quickly, even feel fresh. I described it as "A fast, out of the box terminal build for AI coding." I hope it can also give you a smooth and fast TUI experience. At present, it is not mature. I used it myself for more than half a year, and let it out for everyone to play. As a New Year gift for everyone, welcome to report Bugs to me. You must try all kinds of shortcut keys. I hope that this terminal does not need any configuration and is ready for use out of the box.
