I held a coordination call on the situation in the energy sector across Ukraine’s regions. First and foremost, I am grateful to all repair crews, energy companies, municipal services, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine that are working truly effectively and providing timely assistance to people. We discussed in detail the reports from the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions, where the electricity supply situation is currently the most difficult. Not all communities are resolving problems on time – and conclusions must be drawn from this. There are also issues in cities of the Dnipro region, particularly in Kryvyi Rih. Local authorities’ responses to prolonged outages and the related challenges are often delayed. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine must also act much more swiftly to expand – as previously determined – the capacity to protect the Kharkiv region and other regions bordering Russia from “shaheds” and other attack drones. Ukraine does not have time to wait for individual elements of the Air Force to adjust. In some communities of the Odesa region, additional measures are being taken to support people whose homes rely on electric heating. It is essential that for each such building there is a clear response from local authorities regarding real support for people. Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on the receipt of additional equipment from partners – specifically generators – that will bolster reserves for rapid response. I am grateful to every country and every society that is helping Ukraine – our cities and communities. To stand with Ukraine is to be a defender of life.
