The US government may fall into another 'partial shutdown' this week According to BlockBeats, on February 10th, the United States experienced a 43 day federal government shutdown last fall, followed by a brief 4-day shutdown a week ago. Now, another shutdown is likely to come. The latest shutdown looks very likely to happen, as there are still differences between Democrats and Republicans in Washington over possible reforms to the Trump administration's immigration enforcement practices. The closure from January 31st to February 3rd ended thanks to a bipartisan spending plan that provided only two weeks of funding for the department managing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), while negotiations on reform continue. This temporary funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will continue until Friday, which means the funding gap for the Department of Homeland Security will begin early Saturday morning local time. Negotiations have not yet reached a breakthrough, so Washington is preparing for another shutdown, although it will certainly be a partial shutdown as only the Department of Homeland Security will not have funding Kalshi predicts a 65% chance of a shutdown in the US this weekend, while Polymarket's proportion is 74%.
