[Story Co-Founder Responds to Token Unlock Delay, Says the Project Still Needs Time to Build Use Cases]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that Story Protocol co-founder SY Lee has responded to the decision to postpone the first large-scale IP token unlock to August 2026, stating that the blockchain network still needs 'more time' to build real use cases. The delay, which lasts for six months, will keep team and investor tokens locked to reduce short-term circulation pressure. SY Lee noted that the current near-zero on-chain revenue does not accurately reflect Story's business situation. Its business model does not rely on gas fees but instead provides licensing services for AI training using human-generated data through off-chain methods. He pointed out that the project is shifting from tokenized media content to 'non-capturable' human-contributed data and enterprise-level licensing partnerships. While this adjustment reduces short-term visible on-chain revenue, it helps unlock long-term commitments and alleviates token supply pressure. (CoinDesk)
