[Bithumb Mistakenly Airdropped 620,000 BTC Last Night, 99.7% Recovered]
Odaily Planet Daily News: Bithumb has released a follow-up announcement regarding the 'Bitcoin Airdrop' incident. The platform stated that during the distribution of rewards for an event yesterday, an error in the input of Bitcoin quantities resulted in some customers receiving a large amount of Bitcoin via airdrop. Within 35 minutes of the erroneous payments, Bithumb restricted the transactions and withdrawals of 695 customers, recovering over 99% of the mistakenly distributed amount. The details are as follows:
1. Number of Bitcoins mistakenly transferred: 620,000 BTC (accounting for 2.95% of the total BTC supply);
2. Number of Bitcoins recovered: 618,212 BTC (approximately 99.7% of the total);
3. Of the 1,788 BTC that had been sold, 93% of the equivalent assets (in Korean Won and other virtual assets) have also been recovered (it has been confirmed that the mistakenly transferred Bitcoins were not sent to external addresses).
It is worth noting that Bithumb's BTC reserves are only approximately 460,000 coins.
