[xAI Co-Founder Spends £57 Million on London Penthouse] According to a report by Jinse Finance, foreign media have reported that Igor Babuschkin, co-founder of Elon Musk's xAI, has agreed to purchase a penthouse overlooking London's Hyde Park for approximately £57 million, marking the most expensive residential transaction in the UK in over a year. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Babuschkin decided to buy the property about two weeks ago, just days before the announcement of Musk merging SpaceX with xAI and valuing the merged entity at $1.25 trillion. This is also the first residential transaction in London exceeding £50 million since late 2024. Musk recruited Babuschkin in 2023 with the goal of developing an alternative to ChatGPT. Babuschkin left xAI in 2025 to establish Babuschkin Ventures, an investment firm focused on AI safety. Prior to this, he was a research engineer at Alphabet's DeepMind AI division.
