[Tether Adjusts Fundraising Target to $5 Billion]
On February 4, according to the Financial Times, stablecoin issuer Tether has lowered its fundraising target from the original $15-20 billion to possibly just $5 billion, as investors question its $500 billion valuation goal. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that the $15-20 billion fundraising figure was a 'misunderstanding,' describing it as the maximum amount they were willing to sell rather than a target. He emphasized that the company is highly profitable and is 'very satisfied' even without selling equity. Tether's profit last year was approximately $10 billion, primarily driven by asset returns, though profits in 2025 are expected to decline by about 25% year-on-year.
