UK data protection regulator launches investigation into xAI
According to BlockBeats, on February 3rd, the UK data protection regulatory agency launched an investigation into Elon Musk's xAI. The regulatory authorities are intensifying their scrutiny, focusing on the use of the AI chatbot Grok to generate and disseminate images that sexualize individuals.
The UK Information Commissioner's Office stated in a statement on Tuesday that this formal investigation will focus on examining whether personal data was improperly processed during the generation of these images. Last month, Grok sparked a strong public and political backlash. The user induced the chatbot on X to generate AI images that sexualize real people without their consent. Earlier on Tuesday, French law enforcement conducted a surprise search of X's office in Paris.
The UK Information Commissioner's Office has stated that it has the authority to impose fines of up to £ 17.5 million (approximately $24 million) or 4% of the company's global annual revenue on xAI, whichever is higher. (Golden Ten)
