Tether launches open-source Bitcoin mining operating system MiningOS
On February 3rd, according to The Block, Tether has released an open-source Bitcoin mining operating system called MiningOS (MOS), providing miners with a new option to replace proprietary, vendor controlled software. The system adopts a modular and peer-to-peer architecture design, which can manage mining activities without relying on centralized services. Its applicability ranges from small household settings to large industrial sites. MOS is released under the Apache 2.0 open source license, which is hardware agnostic and can coordinate hardware, energy usage, device health status, and site level infrastructure. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that MiningOS aims to make Bitcoin mining infrastructure more open, modular, and accessible. In addition, Tether has announced that it will collaborate with the open source community to release and develop the Mining SDK in the coming months. This measure is part of Tether's continued expansion of its business, with a net profit of over $10 billion by 2025. Its business has expanded from core stablecoins to mining, payments, and infrastructure.
