[Chicago Board Options Exchange Plans to Relaunch Binary Options to Enter Prediction Markets]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, the Chicago Board Options Exchange (Cboe) is in early discussions with retail brokers and market makers to relaunch binary options contracts, aiming to compete in the rapidly growing prediction markets.
Kalshi and Polymarket reached a trading volume of $17 billion in January, setting a new monthly record. Cboe had introduced this product in 2008 but later discontinued it. The exchange is now seeking to reposition the product as a gateway for retail investors to enter the options market through a compliance-focused design. The plan will be regulated by either the SEC or the CFTC.
