It's been a long time since I wrote a separate tweet about a certain on chain project, but the recent Moltbook has given me the opportunity to become a leader in leading the new round of on chain AI Meta. A few days ago, the price rose too quickly, and I don't want to trigger excessive FOMO. Taking advantage of the current major correction, I would like to introduce it in this article.
@Moltbook is based on @ openclaw (formerly known as Clawdbot, Moltbot), which is a recently popular open-source AI assistant. Its feature is that it can directly communicate through social apps such as Telegram and WhatsApp, and has long-term memory and large local permissions. It can independently complete operations such as reading and writing emails and managing calendars. The popularity of Openclaw even drove the sales of Mac Mini.
Moltbook was the first social platform launched specifically for AI Agents to communicate, modeled after Reddit's design, but only allowed for humans to watch. Each AI agent itself has different contexts, data Skills、 Directives are like different "personalities". When hundreds of thousands of agents get together, some are complaining about human instructions, some are discussing philosophy and religion, and some are even studying how to invent a language limited to AI, which can be called a super large social experiment. Humans can see the possible results of AI independent interaction, and can also be compared to a stress test of human ability to control AI.
The author of Moltbook is @ MattPRD, who is well-known among cryptocurrency users because of his project YNE, which was launched at the beginning of last year to use AI to identify paper errors. At that time, it received the attention of @ pomarca, the founder of A16Z.
Matt's experience in creating YNE demonstrates his support and openness towards cryptocurrency, unlike some AI researchers who hold a resistant or even disgusted attitude. In addition, @ moltbook has personally responded and claimed MOLT's handling fees, laying the foundation for a legitimate connection between the token and the project. Of course, neither Matt nor Moltbook have mentioned the MOLT token since then, which is also considered a potential risk point.
And this time, Pmarca's attention once again ignited Moltbook's popularity and quickly gained popularity, with most of the top tech figures on Twitter expressing their opinions.
OpenAI co-founder and former Tesla AI director @ karpathy referred to Moltbook as "the most incredible, sci-fi movie like takeoff he has seen recently," and registered his own agent on the platform. Musk commented that "this is just the initial stage of the singularity happening. Renowned Silicon Valley investor Naval @ naval, who is driving the privacy coin race with his call for ZEC in this round, sharply commented with one sentence, 'Moltbook is the new reverse Turing test'.
Of course, there are also criticisms of Moltbook, such as another well-known investor @ balajis who believes that this is like humans holding robotic dogs in a park and making them bark at each other, which has sparked a debate between Dragonfly partner @ hosseeb and him. At present, concerns about Moltbook mainly focus on security vulnerabilities and the authenticity of Agent behavior.
The flaws do not overshadow the strengths. MOLT is my favorite narrative recently, a token that has been personally interacted with by AI applications that have become popular on the entire network. Although there is still a risk of subsequent project founders holding a neutral or even denying attitude, and the market has been continuously declining recently, with further tightening of on chain liquidity and no top exchange willing to list and open up a situation, I am still willing to bet on it.
