[Vitalik on Creator Tokens: Establishing Non-Tokenized DAOs and Using Creator Tokens as Prediction Tools] BlockBeats News, February 1: Vitalik Buterin published an article analyzing the history of failures in incentivizing content within the cryptocurrency space, such as Steemit and BitClout. The main issue, he noted, was their inability to effectively promote high-quality content, instead amplifying the influence of existing social status. He praised Substack's successful model, which enhances content diversity and fosters constructive discussions by manually curating high-quality creators (e.g., the top 10 subscribed authors). Vitalik proposed the creation of non-tokenized DAOs (similar to the Protocol Guild model), aimed at forming a group larger than an individual creator. This group could build a collective public brand and negotiate profit opportunities collectively, while remaining small enough to ensure manageable internal governance. Importantly, creator tokens would serve as prediction tools. A portion of the tokens would be burned upon joining the DAO, ensuring that speculators contribute to quality filtering rather than self-reinforcing speculative hype. In this way, token speculators would not be engaging in a recursive speculation game sustained solely by attention. Ultimately, the decision-making would favor high-value content creators. Whether individual speculators can continue participating and profiting depends on their ability to accurately predict the actions of the creator DAO.
