The challenges we face today, demand strong political leadership and the ability to act swiftly, and decisively. It is precisely in such moments that the role of the @EPPGroup becomes even more critical — as a force of political stability, responsibility, predictability and strategic clarity for our shared European present and future. These values will continue to guide my government as we take responsibility for Europe’s future. And they will be the guiding principles of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council, which is guided by a clear and deliberate vision: A Union that is more Autonomous. And Open to the World. Now is the moment for the Union’s Independence – a Union that is able to act independently whenever necessary, and cooperate whenever possible. That is the substance we must give to Autonomy.
