[The Number of Solana Validator Nodes Drops Below 800, Hitting a New Low Since 2021]
According to The Block, the daily number of validator nodes on Solana has fallen below 800, marking the lowest level since 2021. This represents a significant decline compared to the peak of approximately 2,500 validator nodes at the beginning of 2023. This means that in less than three years, the number of validator nodes has decreased by over 65%.
Validator nodes are independent nodes running Solana software, used to validate transactions and generate blocks. The decline in the number of validator nodes has directly impacted voting transactions, with the number of transactions submitted by validator nodes for block confirmation dropping from about 300,000 per day to 170,000 per day. Despite the reduction in validator nodes, non-voting transactions have remained relatively stable at approximately 100 million per day.
