I have been in Southeast Asia for a while recently, and every time I go overseas, I have a strong feeling that Crypto is finally not "for investment", but "really usable" and has extremely high cost-effectiveness;
Compared to the previous situation where one could easily lose hundreds or thousands of U on the chain, it seems very magical to be able to handle most things with just 100 U when eating, buying coffee, taking a taxi in Vietnam, or watching the Emperor Show in Phuket;
When making payments, VietQR codes are always displayed on the merchant's desk. Previously, I only had three options: cash exchange (troublesome and difficult to control the quantity each time), card swiping (transaction fee+some small shops do not support it)
Only U in hand → give up consumption;
This time I tried using Bitget Wallet to scan the merchant's QR code, and the experience was very "counterintuitive": I paid USDT, the merchant charged Vietnamese Dong, and there was no step in between for me to "exchange currency first";
This process is actually quite dull, as if nothing happened, scanning → confirming → successful. For users, it's just a local banking app experience, but I have U in my account and the exchange rate is also good.
What is saved is time and energy, greatly improving convenience.
So I feel that in the future, PayFi is not just about a U-card. The real breakthrough point has never been storytelling, but about having your money in your wallet or CEX. However, overseas, you can simply withdraw your phone and pay without feeling anything, which is what true PayFi is:
I like this slogan: Everyday Finance App.
