On January 26, the Sanxenxo City Council in the province of Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain, suffered a ransomware attack. Hackers infiltrated the municipal network using malware, encrypting thousands of administrative files and causing server outages. They demanded $5,000 worth of Bitcoin (BTC) as ransom. The city council has refused to pay and reported the incident to the Spanish Civil Guard, stating that they will restore the system using daily backups. (Criptonoticias)
