This time, attending the OKX New Year Dinner event, I introduced two people the most. One is Wu Xiong (@qinbafrank), my teacher in macroeconomics, and the other is Houda. Wu Xiong was the first person to help me understand how macroeconomics can influence the economy, while Houda was the friend who encouraged me to start sharing. I met Houda back in 2020. In 2021, he was still working in OK's investment department. When I visited his office, we talked about why we missed out on the "zoo" wealth explosion. We concluded that we were completely disconnected from the Western Meme culture. At that time, during the era of public accounts and Weibo, the content we consumed was all based on "Chinese language," while Twitter already had many English-speaking friends sharing insights. We immediately clicked and decided to start posting our learning experiences on Twitter to avoid missing out on such opportunities again. This is why I always say that my posts on X are primarily for my own learning, and only secondarily for sharing. The purpose of my sharing is to strengthen my own judgment and, through sharing, ensure I don't miss out on more information. That’s how it started. Five years later, Houda asked me what the biggest change has been for me after writing on X. I thought about it and replied: more people now know what I’m good at. This has reduced many barriers in direct communication with others. I even gave him an example: recently, I’ve been focusing on prediction markets and have published many articles related to them. As a result, many professionals in the prediction market field have reached out to chat with me, and some have even sent me offers. It’s because, through my writing, they know what I’m skilled at or what they’re lacking. For me, this means more opportunities. If I had never written, I might still understand these things, but who would know that I understand them? How would I express my insights about this field? My opportunities would be far fewer. Even for commercial advertisements, at the very least, people would want to find someone who can provide valuable feedback for their projects. This is probably the biggest change writing has brought me. I’m willing to share, willing to build influence, and willing to "help" more friends. This isn’t based on traffic but on knowing what I can do.
