SILVER NEARS $100 ON SAFE-HAVEN DEMAND AND WEAK DOLLAR
Silver is approaching $100 an ounce, driven by safe-haven buying, a weaker U.S. dollar, and strong industrial demand. New York futures rose 3.3% to $99.58, after briefly touching $99.81. Prices are up about 12% this week and more than 40% year-to-date.
Saxo Bank’s Ole Hansen says momentum and FOMO are fueling the rally, but notes it is not purely speculative. Platinum also climbed 3.3% to $2,561.80 an ounce.(*Walter Bloomberg)
