[Ethereum Mainnet Daily Active Addresses Surpass All Layer-2s]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, network activity on the Ethereum mainnet has now surpassed that of Layer-2 scaling blockchains, although this may not entirely come from real users. With gas fees remaining low, Token Terminal stated on Thursday that Ethereum is experiencing a 'return to the mainnet' trend, with its daily active address count exceeding all major Layer-2 networks.
Recently, the number of active addresses has surged, approaching 1 million daily addresses. According to Etherscan data, on January 16, active addresses once spiked to approximately 1.3 million but have since fallen back to around 945,000 daily active addresses.
This figure is higher than all Layer-2 blockchains, including popular networks like Arbitrum One, Base Chain, and OP Mainnet. According to L2Beat data, the total value locked across all Layer-2 networks currently stands at $45 billion, a 17% decline over the past 12 months.
Since the Fusaka upgrade in December last year significantly reduced gas fees, Ethereum network activity has surged this month, though not all of this activity may come from real users.
