This joint venture will be responsible for TikTok's U.S. data protection, algorithm security, content moderation, and software assurance. The announcement stated that in the TikTok US Data Security Joint Venture, General Atlantic, Silver Lake Capital, and MGX each hold a 15% stake. Other investors include Vastmere Strategic Investment LLC, an affiliate of Coatue Management, Alpha Wave Partners, and several other companies. ByteDance retains a 19.9% stake, remaining the largest single shareholder of the joint venture. The joint venture will also be managed by a seven-member board of directors, which includes TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew and others.
