Every month, my Government meets through the National Security Council to focus on keeping Jamaica safe.
This Council brings together key Ministers and the heads of our security forces. National security goes beyond the police and the army. It includes Customs, MOCA, disaster management, and other agencies that protect our borders, communities, and economy.
National security is about protecting our way of life, our freedoms, and our country. Threats can come on land, at sea, in the air, and online through cybercrime.
For almost ten years, we have met every month. The decisions we make are carried out, monitored, and reviewed to guide our approach to public safety.
Through the National Security Council, we have strengthened border security, supported the work of our security forces, managed disasters, and introduced measures such as Zones of Special Operations.
We are advancing work on a National Security Act and the Office of the National Security Advisor to support this process.
I want Jamaicans to know that your Government works every day in an organised and intentional way to protect you and your families.(Andrew Holness)
