**[United Nations Receives Funding from Circle to Advance Digital Upgrades for Cross-Border Refugee Aid]** Odaily Planet Daily News – Stablecoin issuer Circle has announced funding support for the United Nations to help deploy digital financial infrastructure globally, aiming to enhance the efficiency of humanitarian aid distribution. The announcement was made during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The Circle Foundation stated that this is its first international grant, which will support the United Nations Digital Solutions Centre (DHoTS) in advancing related initiatives to simplify cross-border fund transfers within the UN system. This funding project continues Circle's 2022 collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and DHoTS, during which the parties distributed aid to displaced Ukrainians using the USDC stablecoin. Alexander De Croo, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme, noted that in the context of tight budgets, stablecoin payments help "make every dollar go further." Circle highlighted that approximately $38 billion in humanitarian funds annually still rely on traditional financial systems, and digital financial infrastructure has the potential to significantly improve the efficiency of fund utilization. Barham Salih, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, also stated that the project aims to enhance the dignity and choice of displaced populations through technological means while maximizing the real impact of donated funds.
