[The United States Officially Withdraws from the WHO]
According to CCTV reports, on January 20 last year, U.S. President Trump signed an executive order announcing the United States' withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO). The United Nations received this notification on January 22 of the same year. According to the WHO constitution, member states can officially withdraw one year after submitting a withdrawal application. Today marks one year since the United States officially submitted its withdrawal application to the United Nations, which means the United States has now formally withdrawn from the WHO in procedural terms.
WHO spokesperson Lindmeier recently stated clearly that the United States has the right to withdraw, but the prerequisite is that it must settle all outstanding membership dues. Currently, the United States has yet to pay its contributions for 2024 and 2025, totaling approximately $260 million over the two years.
