**[Russia Proposes Heavy Fines for Illegal Cryptocurrency Mining]** According to a report by Golden Finance, several members of the Russian State Duma have submitted a bill proposing heavy fines for illegal cryptocurrency mining. Under the draft, the fines for illegal mining are as follows: individuals 100,000 to 150,000 rubles, officials 300,000 to 800,000 rubles, and enterprises 1 million to 2 million rubles. For repeat violations, the maximum fines increase to 1.5 million, 5 million, and 10 million rubles, respectively. Mining that exceeds the government’s electricity usage limits or is conducted without being listed in the legal miner registry will also be penalized, with fines for repeated violations significantly increased. Operators of mining infrastructure who provide services to unregistered miners could face fines of up to 5 million rubles. Lawmakers stated that the misuse of low electricity prices for high-profit mining has threatened the security of the power grid and placed a burden on the energy system.
