A member of the Russian State Duma has submitted a bill proposing fines for illegal cryptocurrency mining. According to the draft, the fines for illegal mining are as follows: individuals will be fined 100,000 to 150,000 rubles, public officials 300,000 to 800,000 rubles, and legal entities 1 million to 2 million rubles. For repeat offenses, the fines will increase. Previously, the Russian Ministry of Justice proposed penalties of up to 1.5 million rubles or two years of forced labor for illegal mining; if the mining generates significant profits or involves organized crime groups, the maximum penalty could be five years in prison.
