Greenland is not part of the European Union. The EU has no role to play in this.
Greenland voted to leave the European Communities (EC, the legal precursor to the EU) in a 1982 referendum, becoming the first territory to do so, and officially withdrew in 1985, primarily due to disputes over fishing rights and a desire for full control over its fish stocks.(Wall Street Mav)
