Caixin: Digital RMB smart contract development supports fully Turing-complete languages like Ethereum's Solidity
According to a report by Caixin, a tech insider familiar with the digital RMB revealed that the smart contracts based on the digital RMB's account system and those on public blockchains are essentially both 'condition-triggered auto-execution codes.' The difference lies in whether they are fully Turing-complete. The smart contracts based on the digital RMB's account system are classified as restricted Turing-complete, with programming strictly limited to template scripts approved by the central bank, supporting only preset, simple condition-triggered functions. This design is primarily for security and risk control considerations. The development of digital RMB smart contracts supports multiple programming languages, including fully Turing-complete ones like Ethereum's Solidity, so technically, it's not an issue. However, the core challenge lies in designing a standard access and auditing mechanism that can be accepted by the financial system.
