xAI = X + AI (Grok). Back in July 2023, Elon rebranded Twitter to 'X' and, in the same month, officially announced the establishment of the large model company xAI. By July 2025, xAI acquired X. Looking back now, it’s clear that Elon’s sudden decision to rename Twitter had deeper meaning—he probably planned as early as 2023 to merge Twitter with the large model company. Now, xAI has X platform in one hand and Grok in the other: the X platform continuously supplies Grok with a massive amount of high-quality, real-time data, while Grok starts taking over the X platform’s algorithms, empowering its content ecosystem. This is truly a case of the left foot stepping on the right foot, spiraling upward in a double helix. Current state of the X platform: 1) Using the large model Grok to take over the entire platform’s algorithms; 2) Actively developing various products: social finance real-time information and trading, chat, payments, etc.; 3) Increasing revenue-sharing incentives to encourage a surge of high-quality creators. On the AI side (Grok): 1) Based on the X platform, from a personal perspective, it’s already the most real-time large model, with accuracy improving and a better understanding of context; 2) The U.S. government has started deploying the Grok system in defense operations. The defense-internal AIGenAI.mil, based on Grok, is directly embedded into operational and planning systems, securely handling controlled unclassified information in daily workflows. Looking at all this, the future of xAI seems pretty promising.
