[Pantheon Macroeconomics: Lower German Inflation May Increase Bets on ECB Rate Cuts]
Jin10 Data, January 16 – Pantheon Macroeconomics analyst Claus Vistesen stated that January inflation in Germany and the Eurozone might prompt the market to increase bets on European Central Bank (ECB) rate cuts. Data released on Friday showed that Germany's annual inflation rate for December fell from 2.3% in November to 1.8%, driven by a drop in energy prices due to a one-off tariff reduction, laying the groundwork for continued inflation decline into 2026. Core inflation is also expected to decrease, although inflation in food and alcohol may rebound due to last year's base effect. Pantheon Macroeconomics forecasts Germany's January inflation rate to drop to 1.5%.
