50 YEARS IN THE SWAMP @SenMarkey has been in Washington since 1976. He won’t leave. But he hasn’t been alone in the Washington swamp. It’s been a taxpayer funded lifestyle for him and his wife. Markey’s wife, Dr. Susan Blumenthal, has worked for multiple NGOs and non-profits funded by taxpayers. THE NGO RACKET Whether you love or hate @elonmusk he raises an important issue for the midterm elections, especially in light of all the fraud taking place related to government programs and spending. Legitimate Questions: Why should taxpayer dollars be used to bypass the very limits those taxpayers put on their government? If the people haven't granted the government the power to perform a task, they certainly haven't granted the power to bankroll it. For example, why is the federal government funding NGOs that help illegal immigrants bypass our laws? If it’s illegal to cross the border, it should be illegal to fund the groups facilitating it. Markey’s wife has been involved in multiple NGOs and non-profits. Here’s a couple: Meridian International Center: Blumenthal chaired their Global Health program. This NGO isn't just supported by the government - it’s bankrolled by it. Since 2002, Meridian has received over $540 million in federal funding. In 2025, reports showed they received nearly $23 million in federal grants in a single year. The NGO Loophole - Why is the State Department funneling hundreds of millions into international centers and global leadership programs? Because it’s easier to fund an NGO than it is to get the American people to vote for these programs directly. Save the Children - where Dr. Blumenthal served as a Director - receive 50% of their funding from U.S. government direct and pass-through grants from agencies such as USAID. These groups are part of the very network that provides humanitarian services at the border, often facilitating the processing and travel of illegal immigrants. No wonder Markey supports open borders. As far as I’m concerned, this is a fraud on the taxpayer. We are literally paying for the groups that help people bypass our own laws. MY TAXPAYER POSITION: If the government lacks the authority to perform an activity, they lack the authority to FUND that activity. It’s time to defund the radical NGO network and put the American taxpayer back in the driver’s seat.(John E Deaton)
