**[OpenAI Expands U.S. Supply Chain, Broadens Hardware and Software Footprint]** According to a report by Jinse Finance, OpenAI is seeking to strengthen its hardware supply chain in the United States and is looking for partners to venture into consumer devices, robotics, and cloud data centers. This is part of the company’s significant product expansion plan over the next few years. The developer of ChatGPT has issued requests for proposals to companies that manufacture and supply components such as silicon chips, motors, packaging materials, and data center cooling equipment within the U.S. These requests did not specify how much OpenAI plans to invest or provide a detailed timeline. The company has previously stated its ultimate plan to invest trillions of dollars in data center expansion, which it believes is directly tied to its ability to increase revenue. Additionally, OpenAI has acquired an AI device startup co-founded by Jony Ive, a veteran from Apple, marking its move into the consumer device market. Furthermore, the agreement reached with Foxconn in November will enable OpenAI to design and manufacture data center hardware. This partnership aims to ensure that server racks can be produced domestically in the United States.
