[Bankinter, a Spanish bank, acquires a stake in crypto exchange Bit2Me] According to CoinDesk, the Spanish bank Bankinter has acquired a minority stake in the local cryptocurrency exchange Bit2Me, participating in the €30 million funding round completed by the exchange in August 2025. This funding round also included stablecoin issuer Tether. With this move, Bankinter joins the growing list of banking shareholders in Bit2Me. The exchange had previously received support from major financial institutions in Spain, such as BBVA, Unicaja, and Cecabank. Headquartered in Madrid, Bit2Me is one of the first companies to complete registration under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), allowing it to operate across the entire European Union.
