Happy Sci has been a long-term, non-profit charitable initiative from the very beginning—no token issuance, no fundraising. This is clearly stated on the official website. @cyodyssey has also been funding this out of their own pocket, and many PhD students have genuinely benefited from it. The problem arose later. When a token with the same name appeared, what was originally a charitable act was forcibly dragged into the framework of token issuance. People who neither issued tokens, held stakes, nor participated in any token operations were being held accountable for a project they neither created nor controlled. This is a clear misallocation of responsibility. Token issuance comes with its own responsibilities, and charity has its own boundaries. Forcing the two together not only depletes goodwill but also makes those who are genuinely willing to work long-term increasingly cautious.
