BTQ, an anti quantum cryptography institution, launches the "Bitcoin Quantum" test network, and the anti quantum fork has entered the testing stage
Odaily Planet Daily News: Anti quantum cryptography professional organization BTQ Technologies (BTQ) recently announced a solution to protect the Bitcoin blockchain, called the "Bitcoin Quantum" permissionless fork test network, which is said to be able to cope with quantum challenges. Chris Tam, Head of BTQ Partnership, stated that Bitcoin Quantum is a publicly operational network where miners, developers, researchers, and users can conduct stress tests against quantum transactions and reveal trade-offs in actual operation before discussions on mainnet upgrades become urgent. The system includes a block explorer and mining pool, providing instant accessibility. Tam explained that in August 2024, the anti quantum algorithm commonly known as "Dilithium" (officially known as the modular lattice based digital signature algorithm ML-DSA), which is the technology used in the Bitcoin quantum network, was standardized in the United States. This algorithm has not yet been widely applied in fast innovation fields such as cryptocurrency, mainly due to its high operating costs. Compared to the digital signatures currently used to send messages to the blockchain or even WhatsApp messages, the data size of anti quantum algorithms has increased by at least 200 times. Therefore, although there are methods to deal with quantum risks, they also bring their own problems, mainly reflected in the performance and cost overhead during large-scale deployment. (Coindesk)
