[Russian Citizens Concerned About Receiving Pensions in Cryptocurrency, Official Response Indicates No Current Involvement]
According to Russian media outlet Rossiyskaya Gazeta, the state institution managing Russia's public pension system, the Russian Social Insurance Fund, stated that inquiries about whether pensions can be paid in cryptocurrency have become one of the most frequent non-standard requests it receives. In 2025, its unified contact center handled approximately 37 million consultations, with many people asking whether pensions could be received in cryptocurrency and whether mining income would be included in social benefit calculations. However, the official response clarified that currently, all pensions and social benefits are only distributed in rubles, and tax issues related to crypto assets (including mining income) are determined and handled by the Federal Tax Service of Russia.
