He referred to BitConnect as a classic example of a scam, stating that its wildly viral promotional video in Vietnam back in 2017 represented the peak of pure fraud. Vitalik believes that although the crypto industry has grown in scale, such outright scams are becoming less frequent. When discussing Bitcoin SV, Vitalik categorized it as 80% scam. He acknowledged that, theoretically, BSV has basic blockchain attributes like transaction capabilities and even file storage, but he bluntly called its founder Craig Wright a "fraud."
