[Vitalik: Ethereum Should Be as Reliable as the 'Heartbeat of the World,' Increasing Bandwidth Is Safer Than Reducing Latency]
BlockBeats News, January 8, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin published an article discussing Ethereum scalability, stating that increasing bandwidth is safer than reducing latency. Using PeerDAS and ZKPs can achieve scalability by thousands of times while maintaining decentralization, whereas latency is constrained by factors such as the speed of light, node locations, censorship resistance, and economic feasibility.
Vitalik emphasized that Ethereum should be as reliable as the 'heartbeat of the world,' rather than a high-speed gaming server. Applications requiring faster speeds should adopt off-chain components, which is one of the reasons why Layer 2 networks will continue to play a role even in a highly scalable Ethereum.
